Hi Jeanne - it's not exactly the same, but we use the terminology "Industry Project", which I think somewhat bridges the divide between something just being generically project-based, and it leaning more into consulting. (The terminology started as "Entrepreneurial/Business Project" and then evolved through Faculty consultations into its current form of "Industry Project". Our definition for IP is "Students/faculty identify a problem or potential innovation (process, product, or service) and create an industry-related response. The result could be a marketing plan, business plan, project plan, product analysis, entrepreneurial project, prototype, recommendations and/or pitch."
We track Research Projects (with Industry Partner) separately.
